Install Wamp on Windows 8

I just install Windows 8 and try to install Wamp. I see the error dialog said that “MSVCR100.dll is missing”

missingMSVCR100.dll

Solution

Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package and re-install Wamp again. When start wamp, the logo is will be green that means it should work.

Test by open the browser and access to http://localhost
Oh oh.. HTTP 403 Forbidden

403

The reason is Windows 8 is an IPv6 by default.
But Wamp runs on IPv4 by default.

Solution
1. Edit C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts as administrator right.
It should be 127.0.0.1 localhost
Not ::1 localhost
2. Edit httpd.conf, click on Wamp icon on system tray. Apache > httpd.conf
Change from Listen 80 to Listen 127.0.0.1:80
3. Restart Wamp server

It should work.
